Guerrilla Blog covers in the industrial complex in all its manifestations.
In his farewell address to the nation, President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned America against allowing the “unwarranted influence” of the military-industrial-complex. Five decades later, not only has the military-industrial-complex been established as an irremovable object in the United States political system, it has been expanded to other areas beyond the military.
The catalyst for the unprecedented expansion of military-industrial-complex was the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001; since the attacks defense spending has tripled and there has been a corporate take over of all aspects of the American national security apparatus. From intelligence gathering to law enforcement to prisons, we are seeing not just corporate interests align with political but become one in the same.
The effects of this are disasters for American democracy. As public policy is now determined by corporate interests and not public interests. Immigration law is tailored to ensure private detention facilities are filled with undocumented immigrants. National defense policy is made by lawmakers with defense contractors contributions filling their campaign accounts. When national defense is privatized the national interests becomes the bottom line.
The goal of Guerrilla Blog is to cover and uncover the relationships and connections in the industrial complexes; from the influx of drones both domestically and abroad to the use of private security contractors. Through research and reporting these connections and the true extend of the all the industrial complexes will be brought to light. Lights on.
