South of Salt Lake City, the National Security Agency is finishing construction of a massive data center build to house communications intelligence collected by NSA. The one million square foot 65 Megawatt facility will cost nearly $2 billion and when completed and could theoretically hold as a much as a yottabyte of data, or the equivalent of 500,000,000,000,000,000,000 pages of text.
Fox News takes a look at the Data Center and published the most recent photo of the still under construction facility that is schedule to be operationally in September. The massive facility is recognizable from the conceptual design plans published by Public Intelligence in 2010. Read James Bamford’s piece a Wired magazine for an in-depth look at the possible capabilities of the facility.
